Beer Can Chicken

13 05 2009

Here’s my step by step guide to the perfect beer can chicken.

1 ) Get a chicken (dead and defeather – preferably from the supermarket or the butcher)

2 ) Preheat BBQ to 200 degrees.

3 ) Drink half a can of beer  (which ever one you fancy)

4 ) To marinate the chicken rub in lime, then rub on cajun, paprika, chilli flakes, thyme, rosemary,  black pepper and rock salt.

5 ) Pierce 4 holes 3/4 of the way up your beer can.

6 ) Shove the can up the back end of the chicken (see picture below)

7 ) place on BBQ.

8 ) Leave on BBQ to cook for 45- 50 at 200 degrees C.

9 ) Check on the chicken a couple of times to ensure it’s cooking right and that temperature is maintained throughout.

10 ) EAT!!!

As the chicken cooks, the half can of beer you’ve placed inside it will boil and steam the chicken – the boiling beer will filter through the chicken ensuring it’s moist… And tastes feckin great.

Enjoy!
